THE POTENTIAL OF SOLAR CELL FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC INDUSTRY IN INDONESIA TO FULFILL NDC 2030

Currently, local solar module prices are still 20% to 30% higher than solar modules imported from China. Currently, the material commonly used for PV mini-grid is silicon. In 2019, world silicon production reached 7 million tons. According to BPS data, until now Indonesia has not produced silicon mining products such as silicon alloys or pure silicon, even though it has the potential for raw materials in the form of silica of around 17 billion tons which are spread almost throughout Indonesia. By seeing this potential and G20 moment in Indonesia, it is hoped that Indonesia can produce silicon wafers to reduce its dependence on imports and be part of the biggest one Clean Energy Producing in Indonesia until globally.
